The Corporation initially started its operations in 1976 in buildings and land at Tanuku and Vijayawada, which were taken over from National Seeds Corporation Ltd.

Subsequently, the Corporation expanded and established its own infrastructure and storage facilities using the Grants-in-aid received under National Seed Project III at Srikalahasti and Nizamabad during 1983-85.

The Corporation further created infrastructure and storage facilities under O.P.P.(Oilseed Production Programme) in 1993-04, 1994-05 and 1995-06 utilizing the total Grants-in-aid received of Rs.450.04 lakhs to establish Units at Anantapur, Eluru, Gannavaram, Tanuku, Nandipahad, Armoor and Karimnagar.

Under Seed Bank Scheme 2006-07, the Corporation constructed Seed Processing Unit at Karimnagar.

The processing capacity of the Corporation was 4.68 Lakh Qtls, with a storage capacity of 3.99 Lakh sft in 18 Seed Processing Units.

In 2008-09, the Corporation received Rs.40.42 crores under R.K.V.Y. scheme for creation of infrastructure and storage facilities in ten (10) Districts. With this expansion under R.K.V.Y. 2008-09, there will be an additional 1.48 Lakh qtls. processing capacity, bringing the processing capacity of the Corporation to a total of 6.16 Lakh Qtls. Similarly, there will be an additional 1.86 Lakh sft. of storage capacity, which will result in a total storage capacity of 5.85 Lakh sft for the Corporation.

The Corporation received Grant-in-aid under Central Sector Scheme 2008-09 of Rs.4.00 crores which is proposed for Kurnool, Khammam and Srikalahasti District Units, which will add an additional 0.40 Lakh  sft, storage capacity.

By creating infrastructure facilities for processing (as planned) to a tune of 6.16 Lakh Qtls, and storage facilities (as planned) for 6.25 Lakh sft, the Corporation will be geared to meet the increasing seed production demands of the farming community, besides ensuring better prices for the end purchasers through reduced expenditure on rentals and outsourcing of processing and storage facilities.
